Delayed withdrawals

About

What are delayed withdrawals?

Delayed withdrawals is an optional security setting for your Save and Invest accounts. You choose a withdrawal limit and a delay time. Any withdrawal that would take you over your limit waits for that delay before the money leaves your account.

This feature allows you to add another layer of security in case someone gets unauthorised access to your ARQ account. If someone gets access to your account they could try to move your money out quickly. With delayed withdrawals, large withdrawals wait for 24, 48 or 72 hours. That gives you time to cancel them and contact our support team to freeze your account.

Do I have to use it?

No. It's off by default and you can choose whether to turn it on.

Where do I find it?

Open the Save or Invest tab and click on a shield icon at the top. You can also find it in Settings > Security & Privacy > Delayed withdrawals.

Make sure you have the app version that supports Delayed withdrawals - 7.30 and higher.

How do I turn it on?

  1. Go to Delayed withdrawals and choose Invest or Save.

  2. Enter your withdrawal limit in USDc.

  3. Choose a delay time: 24, 48 or 72 hours.

  4. Review the summary, tap Turn on delayed withdrawals and confirm with your passcode.

Protection starts right away, and we'll send you an email to confirm.

How the limit works

Is there one limit for Save and Invest accounts together?

No. Save and Invest each have their own setting. You can protect one account or both, and each can have a different limit and delay time.

What counts toward my limit?

Withdrawals from your Save or Invest account to your Main account. The limit is a total for each 24-hour period, not a per-transaction amount. Lots of small withdrawals add up in the same way as one large one.

What does "24-hour period" mean?

It's a rolling 24 hours, counted back from the moment you make a withdrawal. It isn't a calendar day, so the limit doesn't reset at midnight.

Example: your limit is $10,000 and your delay time is 48 hours.

  1. Monday 10:00 a.m. – you withdraw $6,000. You're under your limit, so it leaves right away.

  2. Monday 10:00 p.m. – you withdraw $5,000. That would take you to $11,000, so the whole $5,000 is held until Wednesday 10:00 p.m.

  3. Tuesday 10:01 a.m. – Monday morning's $6,000 is now more than 24 hours old and no longer counts. The held $5,000 still does, so you can withdraw up to $5,000 more without a delay.

If a withdrawal goes over my limit, is only the extra amount held?

No. The whole withdrawal is held, not just the part above your limit. Any later withdrawals in the same 24 hours are held too.

Can I sell my investments and withdraw the cash straight away?

Selling is always instant. Moving the cash out of your Invest account follows your limit. If the withdrawal takes you over it, it waits for your delay time.

Does moving money between Save and Invest count?

Moving money between your Save and Invest accounts is never held. It does count toward the 24-hour total of the account the money leaves.

What currency is the limit in?

Your limit is set in USDc. If you withdraw from a balance in another currency, we convert the amount to USD at the exchange rate at the time of the withdrawal and count that against your limit.

Does it protect money in my Main account?

Delayed withdrawals only cover money leaving your Save and Invest accounts. Payments and transfers from your Main account work as usual.

How do I know a withdrawal is being held?

Before you confirm, the review screen shows Withdrawal held for X hours and the expected arrival time. Afterwards, the withdrawal shows as Pending in your account activity. Open it to see a countdown of how long is left.

Where is my money while it's held?

It stays in your Save or Invest account until the delay ends. It then moves to your Main account automatically, so you don't need to do anything.

Can the delay be shortened or a withdrawal released early?

No. Nobody can release a held withdrawal early, including you and our support team. This is what stops someone who has your phone from getting round the protection.

Can I cancel a held withdrawal?

Yes, at any time before it completes. Open the pending withdrawal in your activity and tap Cancel withdrawal. The money is back in your available balance straight away.

Can I pay my credit card from Save or Invest while I'm over my limit?

No. A credit repayment from Save or Invest that would take you over your 24-hour limit is declined, not held. Pay from your Main account instead, or wait until you're back under your limit.

Changing or turning off protection

How quickly do changes take effect?

Changes that make your protection stronger apply right away. Changes that make it weaker take whatever delay time you've chosen. If someone gets into your account, they can't switch your protection off and withdraw your money straight away. If one update makes your protection both stronger and weaker, such as a lower limit with a shorter delay, the whole update takes 24 hours.

How do I change my limit or delay time?

Go to Delayed withdrawals, choose the account, then update the amount or delay time and tap Update limit. If the change takes 24 hours, the account card shows a countdown, for example Increases in 23h.

I got an email about a change I didn't make. What should I do?

Tap Cancel request in the email. The link works even if you're not logged in to the app on that device, and the change is cancelled immediately. Then contact our support team through the in-app chat or at help@arqfinance.com.

Can I cancel a change I made myself?

Yes. While a change is waiting to take effect, you can cancel it from the Delayed withdrawals screen or from the link in the email. If you make your protection stronger during the 24 hours, that replaces the pending change.

Need help?

I see a withdrawal I didn't make. What should I do?

If it's still pending, cancel it right away from your account activity. Then contact our support team through the in-app chat or at help@arqfinance.com so we can help you secure your account.

I need my money urgently, but my withdrawal is held. Can support help?

No. Held withdrawals can't be released early by anyone, including our support team. You can withdraw up to your remaining limit without a delay, or wait for the held withdrawal to complete. If you often need larger amounts quickly, consider raising your limit. Remember that raising it takes 24 hours.
