BRL Earnings Account: Withholding Tax

What has changed in the BRL Earnings Account?

ARQ is growing, and we continue to improve our products. As part of this evolution, the BRL Earnings Account now operates under a new regulated structure, and we are updating its terms to reflect this change.

Starting October 7, 2026, returns will be treated as investment income, subject to the applicable tax rules. Income Tax will be calculated and withheld automatically by ARQ, solely on the returns. You do not need to calculate or pay it separately.

Why has the tax treatment changed?

This change reflects the updated structure of the BRL Earnings Account. Previously, amounts were granted as a discretionary benefit by ARQ. Returns will now be calculated based on the returns earned from investments in government securities and passed on to you under the product’s terms. They will therefore be subject to the tax treatment applicable to investment income.

How are returns calculated?

Returns are calculated on the eligible balance available in the BRL Earnings Account.

The calculation uses a rate set by ARQ based on the returns earned from investments in government securities, with a percentage of the CDI (Brazil’s Interbank Deposit Certificate rate) as a benchmark, in accordance with the BRL Earnings Account Terms and Conditions.

Does the tax apply to my entire balance?

No. Income Tax applies only to the returns, never to the amount you deposited.

Do I need to calculate or pay Income Tax?

No. ARQ automatically calculates and withholds Income Tax at source before crediting the returns to your account. You do not need to calculate the tax or make any separate payment relating to these returns.

What tax rate applies?

The rate follows the regressive Income Tax schedule applicable to fixed-income investments and depends on how long each amount remains invested:

Holding period

Tax rate on returns

Up to 180 days

22.5%

From 181 to 360 days

20%

From 361 to 720 days

17.5%

More than 720 days

15%

The longer the holding period, the lower the applicable tax rate.

When does this change take effect? Will previously credited amounts be affected?

The change applies only to returns generated on or after October 7, 2026, in accordance with the new Terms and Conditions communicated by email.

Previously credited amounts will not be affected, as they were granted as a discretionary benefit by ARQ. The Income Statement for the 2026 calendar year, which will be made available by the end of February 2027, will reflect the new treatment of returns generated from that date onward.

By continuing to use the BRL Earnings Account, you agree to the new Terms and Conditions.

Can I withdraw my money at any time?

Yes. Your balance remains available for withdrawal at any time through the ARQ app, subject to the BRL Earnings Account terms.

How are funds in the BRL Earnings Account allocated?

Eligible amounts are allocated to government securities, and the returns are passed on to you in accordance with the BRL Earnings Account rules.
